My current research projects apply investigations of cumulative impacts to Los Angeles, a critical site for examining environmental justice. In collaboration with colleagues at Oxy, and USC and frontline residents, I examine urban neighborhood oil development in Los Angeles, the largest urban oil field in the country and the second most oil rich basin in the world. The proximity of active drilling to a dense urban population has important consequences for environmental health and justice in the city.
In addition, I collaborate with colleagues at George Washington University, Black Women for Wellness, and Silent Spring Institute to better understand the disparate exposures faced by women of color from exposures to synthetic chemicals in consumer products, through a study funded by the California Breast Cancer Research Program.
